Sami Yousif sings for the Virgin Mary

British singer Sami Yousif has agreed to sing the opening theme song for the new film “Mariam Al Athra” (The Virgin Mary). The film will star artist Eman Ayoub and Nourhan Mitwali is nominated to be the director.

Negotiations are also taking place with Muslim preacher Amro Khaled to be the narrator of the film, which tells the story of the Virgin Mary and the obstackles she encountered throughout her life.


Once the film is complete, it will be viewed by the Egyptian Censorship Committee, Al Azhar, and the Church in Egypt to make sure that the events portrayed reflect actual events. The film is expected to cause commotion with Al Azhar since it is known that they usually do not allow religious figures to be portrayed in films or on television.
